It’s back

-The fourth movie in the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn Part I, makes its way into theaters on November 18.

Two years ago, it was nearly impossible to not come across Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, or Taylor Lautner on the cover of a magazine or just in the news. At this time, Twilight fever was running rampant with the movie release of New Moon and the true introduction of the Edward/Jacob feud. Only a few months later, the third flick in the series, Eclipse, came out in theaters, satisfying fans with a double dose of vampires and werewolves in only the course of a year. With both movies opening in such a short time span, those behind the success of Twilight have given the franchise somewhat of a break in order to produce the most captivating final installments of the film series. Pulling a Harry Potter, the last book, Breaking Dawn, has been broken up into two separate movies to be released apart from each other. On November 18, the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I  will be taking over the box office. Following after the success of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, it will be interesting to see the overall response to this new Twilight movie.

A quick synopsis of where the movies left off: Eclipse had movie fans buzzing about Bella Swan’s approaching wedding to vampire Edward Cullen, and also had them debating about the Edward/Jacob/Bella love triangle. While Bella realizes in the end of Eclipse that her love for Edward is the strongest of all, her attraction to werewolf Jacob is also made apparent. Those supportive of Jacob, played by Taylor Lautner, ended up awfully disappointed by the final outcome of Eclipse in which Bella and Edward, portrayed by Robert Pattinson, finalize their plans to be married.

With Eclipse released in June 2010, it’s been almost a year and a half since Twilight has appeared in theaters and riveted fans. Those who aren’t hard-core “Twilighters” may not even remember how the last movie ended, especially since the response to it wasn’t exactly hyped up. With Breaking Dawn being split into two flicks, viewers are bound to witness more of the action that made the books so popular and earn the actors even more accolades.

Actress Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella Swan, has the toughest role to portray in the new installment: a human pregnant with a vampire’s child. Trailers for the film already show her colorless, emaciated appearance, as well as the clutching of her stomach that’s the basis of the drama in this upcoming film.

Since the book Breaking Dawn is separated into different characters’ viewpoints, it’ll be interesting to see how filmmakers cut the novel in half for the movies. There is lots going on in the final book, from Jacob’s love life to the Volturi threatening the Cullens, and fans are obviously hoping for an epic portrayal. If Harry Potter is any example, the splitting for the movies should only benefit the viewers and creators of the Twilight franchise.

It seemed that when New Moon came out, it wasn’t the movie itself that attracted so much attention. Really, it was the three main stars of the series that stole every talk show, tabloid cover, and photo spread possible. Stewart, Lautner, and Pattinson have all had their lives changed by the intense success of their portrayals in the series and fans have basically been able to follow them since the films came out. By now, it’s no secret that the actors playing Bella and Edward have their own love story in real life, and that Taylor Lautner also earned his own breakout role in Abduction  a few months ago. Is it the Twilight series that truly attracts people, or are the stars of the films what really catches fans’ eyes? With the constant access to what’s going on in celebrities’ lives these days, it does become questionable as to why people are so fascinated by Twilight.

Another interesting twist this time around is the idea that Breaking Dawn: Part I is trailing behind the huge success of the final Harry Potter film. Many have almost seemed to forget about the Twilight craze for awhile to make room for the hyped Deathly Hallows response. Both franchises have completely different story lines, yet do seem to fight for the number one spot in people’s hearts.

Even if you’ve forgotten how Eclipse ended or how good looking Taylor Lautner is, chances are you’re going to see Breaking Dawn: Part I somewhere along the line. There’s no doubt that every website, magazine, and show will do some coverage of the new movie and leave you at least a little curious about it again. The shoes are huge to fill after Potter, but movie goers may end up surprised by the reaction to the latest Twilight installment.
