One of the most notable movie franchises in the movie industry, Star Wars, is back and ready to blow away every other movie in the box office, again. The eighth movie in Star Wars series, not including Rogue One, has been announced for a while now but just now has the title been revealed. Disney has announced the new movie title as The Last Jedi with the release date of December 15, 2017.  This ominous title has sparked speculation on what this might mean for this movie and the next one in the series.

This is always a big deal as Star Wars is a giant in the movie industry; not only in every fan’s heart but also in the box office. This is evident in the fact that Star Wars: The Force Awakens has reaped in over 2 billion dollars and Rogue One just recently surpassing the $1 billion mark. So obviously, this movie has high expectations from its fans, as all Star Wars movies do.

Some speculation that has awakened (see what I did there) from the title is about the color choice of the logo. Contrary to the normal Star Wars iconic yellow, the new title is in an insidious red; therefore, people have begun to conjecture what it could mean. Some say that this is simply just alluding to the fact that Luke is the last Jedi and he is in danger, while others believe this could have a more ominous meaning that the last Jedi is something different entirely. Another area of dispute is who the last Jedi is or if there is only one, as the word Jedi can be plural as well. Some believe the obvious answer is Luke, while another easy choice is the protagonist of The Force Awakens, Rey; however, a bit more of a stretch that it could be in fact Finn as there was speculation that he could also have the force.

Whoever is correct, the fans of this franchise and even bystanders are anxious to see the second installment in the sequel trilogy. And despite the tragic loss of Carrie Fisher it will not affect this movie as she had finished filming before she had passed away. Whether Rey, Finn, or Luke is the last Jedi, it will be a must-see movie. May the force be with you.
