Nintendo fans were treated to a pleasant surprise at the end of the Nintendo Direct on Wednesday, the announcement of a Super Smash Bros. game coming to the Nintendo Switch. This arrival has been long awaited by many Nintendo fans that have been dreaming about the chance to play Super Smash on the go. It is unclear whether or not this will be a new Super Smash game or just a re-release of the Wii-U version, but either way the hype for the game is already overwhelming. Many people who have been unsure about whether or not it is worth it to buy the Switch are now racing to the store because of their love for this classic series. Super Smash fan Christian Giordano gives his thoughts, “I’ve been playing Super Smash since the first edition on the Nintendo 64 over a decade ago. Every new game in the series promotes sales for the system it’s made for because the community is so strong for this fighting game. I believe that Nintendo is making a great decision by bringing Super Smash to the Switch because people will buy the system exclusively to play Smash. I haven’t owned a Nintendo system in years, but I am tempted to purchase one for the sole reason of playing Super Smash.”

It’s clear that this title will make major sales when it releases later this year for both the game and the Switch. Though I’m praying that this is a new title in the Super Smash Bros. series and not just a re-release, just the idea of playing Super Smash on the go with my friends is enough to have me and many other Nintendo fans counting down the days until its release.
