So about a year ago, I was cleaning out the back patio and I came across a blue box. What was inside the box I had yet to find out, but from the outside labeling it seemed to be a sound system. I immediately picked up the box and showed my mother what I had discovered. Her response was, “Throw it out; it’s garbage.” Me being the man I was, I saw value in this speaker system that looked like an old relic from the early 2000’s. I popped open the box and peered into it to confirm its contents. Indeed, it was a surround sound stereo system that was probably my father’s from the early 2000’s.

I placed the box into my room despite my mother’s orders to “throw it out; it’s garbage.” I saw value in this old piece of technology. The box remained on my bedroom floor for about a year before I ever touched it again. Even though I was very adamant about keeping the stereo system I had yet to even open it up and do anything with it. When I recently opened it, I was very surprised to see that it was in great condition. It came with a good-sized subwoofer and two speakers and a cord that I could plug my phone into. The first song I wanted to try out that came to mind was “Bank Account” by 21 savage. I let it rip on about medium volume and the speaker was louder than I was expecting. I immediately turned down the volume to the lowest settings.

What I thought was quiet was not quiet at all. I walked out of my bedroom and closed the door and I could just hear the muffled bass booming loud. It sounded like a party was being thrown in my bedroom. So now whenever I use the speaker, I keep the volume pretty low until my mother says something about the noise and I lower it some more. Overall, I am very surprised about how some speaker from 2004 sounds so loud and clean.
