Sweet Girl a Delightful Surprise

Jason Momoa has a hit on Netflix original movie

Sometimes it’s just as good to watch a movie at home where you’re warm, there’s no germs, and the food and drink is free than to go to the movie theater. During a lag in sports between football and baseball, I decided to catch up on some things on TV I had been meaning to watch. I came across a movie with one of my favorite actors and decided to give Sweet Girl a try.

Sweet Girl is a Netflix Original movie that debuted in August 2021. It stars Jason Momoa as Ray Cooper and Isabela Merced as Rachel Cooper, his daughter. The film is directed by Brian Andrew Mendoza who also directed Braven, another film starring Jason Momoa.

Sweet Girl is a movie about a little girl whose mom died from cancer because of a drug some guy is selling on the street. It was supposed to kill cancer cells but it only made her cancer progression worse and eventually she dies. The majority of the movie was based during Rachel’s childhood, but shows her progressive path in avenging her parents’ death through adulthood.

Rachel’s angry at losing her mother and the girl calls the police, but hangs up, because she’s rethinking their involvement. Jason Momoa didn’t want the police involved and wants to do it alone. He finally relents and lets his daughter go to find the bad guys that gave her mother the bad drugs.

Rachel eventually loses her father too, and the anger was just too much to handle. She finally finds the bad guys at a press conference in Washington D.C. They argue and she stabs the guy over and over until he’s dead. When the police came, she put her coat on and blended in with crowd. The movie closes as she gets away, after avenging her parents.

I recommend this movie and give it 4.5 out of 5.0 stars. I enjoy watching Jason Momoa’s movies. I like him as an actor. Sweet Girl had a lot of action which I really love. This was noy only from Jason Momoa’s character, but from the young actress Isabella Merced too. It kept you on the edge of your seat most of the movie which is how I like my movies!
