Boing!

Tyler Higbee, Staff Writer

Everyone has their own way of having fun. For some it could be dancing, for others it could be games, no matter what everyone finds enjoyment in certain things in life. There is a new activity that all can enjoy and it is taking over the Tampa Bay area, it is the Boing Jump Center located in Tampa, Florida, near the Brandon Crossroads Bowl.

The Boing Jump Center (Boing for short) is more than 11,000 square feet of trampoline floors and walls. You can practically bounce off of everything in the facility. Boing offers a variety of activities that include Aeroball(trampoline dodgeball Boing style), Boing-Robics, free Wi-Fi lounge, parties/events, or just having a good time and jumping with friends. Boing is open Monday-Thursday 3:00pm to 9:30pm, Friday 3:00pm to 10:00pm, and Saturday from 10:00am to 10:00pm. The open jumping prices start at $12(equipment rental included) for the first hour jumping and $9 for every additional hour. The equipment that Boing will provide is a special type of soft sole shoe that all bouncers must wear and a protective helmet.

Will all fun there has to be rules and that also applies to the Boing Jump Center. All guests must have a sign liability waiver on file with Boing and if under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian fill over the waiver form and sign it. If you are over the age of 18 you must have photo id to show employees before being allowed to participate. Boing shoes are to be worn at all times in the Boing Jump Center and if you are under 18 you must wear a helmet, while those over the age of 18, a helmet is optional. Also all children under the age of 4 are at all times to be accompanied by an adult jumper for supervision. Here are a couple of the other rules that apply at Boing:

  • NO double bouncing another individual.
  • NO sitting or lying down in the Arenas.
  • NO electronics (cell phones, cameras, etc.) in the Arenas.
  • NO keys or other sharp objects in the Arenas.
  • NO jewelry or glasses (only sports eye wear is allowed) in the Arenas.
  • NO screaming or profanity while in BOING! Jump Center.
  • NO outside food or drinks.
  • NO food or drinks on or near the Arenas.

One of the fun activities at Boing is Aeroball. The high flying and gut-wrenching game takes the meaning of DODGEBALL to a new level. Aeroball is open to anyone who would like to play. The Boing Jump Center also hosts Aeroball tournaments frequently. Sounds like you need to get on it and gather up a squad to take down the rest of the Tampa Bay area and become Aeroball’s new champion. “My favorite part about Boing was playing dodgeball and going 10-3.” “A kid on the other team was talking smack so I threw the ball and hit him where the sun doesn’t shine!” Said junior Steven Buric.

Boing also offers Boing-Robics for all people above the age of 15. Nobody is allowed to take the Boing-Robics class without first having a session of open jump. This class can help you burn up to 1,000 calories in one hour. This class is a combination of cardiovascular endurance with muscular endurance and strength to give you and overall workout. Boing-Robics will help increase your strength, balance, flexibility, agility, and endurance. All classes are $10 and are equipped with one complimentary bottled water. Boing-Robics is considered an advanced aerobics class so for all of you slackers out then I would recommend sticking to the open jump.

The Boing Jump Center has taken high flying heights to a new level. If the all the buzz is true the next thing you know Boing Jumping Centers will be popping up all over the map and soon will put places like Laser Eclipse and other fun industries out of business.
