Amazing jet flight

Tyler Higbee, Staff Writer

On May 10,2011 a Swiss man named Yves Rossy, better known as The Rocket Man, used his custom jet pack suit to fly over the Grand Canyon. He did not draw all the attention like most people would have thought. He kept this event closed and confined to his usual set of cameras he has follow him on a regular basis and a couple friends. He had a Breitling-sponsored helicopter following him as he made the trip. His high flying act took nearly eight minutes and he flew approximately 200 feet above the Grand Canyon and landed in the Hualapai Reservation which is home to the Grand Canyon Skywalk. He jumped out of the helicopter and flew around and over the Canyon almost as if he were a small airplane gliding through the sky before pulling his parachute and softly landing on solid ground. For the flight, Rossy was labeled by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) as an airplane.
