Recently a U.S. Coast Guard lieutenant was arrested after federal investigators found a weapon cache and ammunition in his home in Maryland. Christopher Paul Hasson is a self-proclaimed white nationalist who called for “focused violence” to “establish a white homeland” and said he has been “dreaming of a way to kill almost every last person on the earth.” He was arrested Friday on charges of illegal weapon possession and drugs, but the government claims those charges are the tip of the iceberg.

Authorities say his weapon stockpile was meant for a widespread domestic terrorist attack targeting politicians and journalists. He also had a stash of steroids and narcotics which are deemed to help heighten his attacks and his ability to carry them out. While court documents have not specified a date that he planned to attack, it is known that he has been amassing supplies since 2017 on top of planning in other ways such as spreadsheets of his targets, which included House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. His emails and computer have revealed many scary aspects of his plan such as Google searches including “best place in DC to see congress people” and “are supreme court justices protected.” Court documents also quoted “the defendant intends to murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country.” His emails included many more terrifying plans and ideas.

Christopher Hasson, who has been described as a man with neo-Nazi and neo-fascist views has been working at US Coast Guard headquarters since 2016 and has served in the Marine Corps and Army National Guard. The documents do not detail what exactly prompted government investigation into Hasson but do say that he has also been studying a 1500-page manifesto of a man named Anders Behring Breivik, who is known for terrorist attacks that occurred in Norway back in 2011 killing 77 people. The manifesto outlined a roadmap for others planning to follow in his footsteps.
