With just a few weeks until Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner, many skip the initial joy of celebrating the turkey filled holiday. Christmas brings hot chocolate, snow (for other states), and so much joy, which is why many look over Thanksgiving to go right into Christmas. Many want to skip Thanksgiving and dive right in to the Christmas spirit.

Thanksgiving often is disregarded, thrown to the side. Stores are already putting up Christmas decorations rather than putting up Thanksgiving decorations; some have even been up since October. This drags on the season of Christmas. The question is: isn’t it too early for Christmas to be celebrated? Starbucks already has Christmas themed cups and seasonal drinks, Publix has Christmas themed decorations around the store, and many are already listening to Christmas music. Although Christmas is a favorite holiday of many, it is being celebrated too early.

With the crazy weather in Florida, it is often hard to really get into the spirit of Christmas or Thanksgiving. Temperatures of 80 degrees make it feel more like summer than winter, which makes celebrating very hard. This could possibly be a reason as to why Christmas is celebrated so early, to try to get people in the spirit although the weather in Florida is very hot.

All in all, Thanksgiving is a great holiday spent with countless family traditions, a huge feast of the best foods including ham, turkey, pie, and so much more. Thanksgiving also allows one to reflect on what they have and to truly be thankful for everything. Spending the day with family or friends really allows one to relax and appreciate all they have been blessed with in life. Thanksgiving should not be disregarded; it should be savored. Although Christmas is fun, Thanksgiving is an important holiday that we cannot overlook.
