Reasons why cats are better than dogs

Here is my cat, Joey!

This is a very controversial subject, but I feel as though it should be brought to light. Cats, overall, are better than dogs. Dare I say so, as many people are dog people, but I truly believe cats take the crown every time. I mean, dogs are great and all, but nothing can compare to the love of a cat.

1. Cats Are Perfectly Happy Indoors

It is quite frankly impossible to own an indoor dog. Dogs need to be outside, they need a lot of exercise, plenty of walks, and time spent outdoors to live happy and healthy lives. But if you don’t have the ability to take them out every day more than once a day, you shouldn’t have a dog. Cats. on the other hand. are perfectly happy perched next to a window or curled up in a sunny spot on the couch.

2. Cats Are Quieter

Even the biggest dog lovers have to admit, the constant barking can of dogs can get pretty annoying. While cats do make some noise the meows and purrs tend to be pretty quiet, quieter then a dog bark anyway…

3. Cats Keep Pests Away

Living in Florida we tend to come across some unwelcome bugs in the household. Cats are natural-born hunters, so it’s in their DNA to stalk, hunt, and pounce on their prey—even if it’s on a television screen. Plus your cat’s scent alone can keep rodents away from your house.

4. Cleaning the Litter Box Is Easier Than Constant Walks

Although it is my least favorite thing to do, I have to admit, cleaning out a litter box is far easier than having to take walks late at night, during hot summer days, or even rainy days all while scooping up dog poop with a plastic bag over your hand.

5. Cats Clean Themselves

Dogs love stuff that smells bad and they really love to roll around in it. As a result, dogs require routine bathing and grooming, which can get very expensive. Cats do a great job being independent and cleaning themselves.

6. Cats Don’t Take up Much Space

If you’ve ever tried to share a bed with a dog, you know they can take up a lot of space. Between their size, their love for stretching out into everyone’s personal space, the room they need to play and exercise, and their stuff (such as a dog bed or dog toys), dogs need a large amount of room to live. A cat on the other hand needs a litter box and some toys to live happily!

While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I believe that cats are truly the better choice when looking at cats vs. dogs. I mean, there is practically no competition, but…. they both are equally adorable!
