2010 World Series

This year has maybe the two biggest underdogs in the whole playoff pool advancing to the World Series in the 2010 series. Neither San Francisco OR Texas were favored to win their leagues against defending champs the Yankees and the Phillies, who had made it to the World Series two years in a row. Who knows what the outcome of the World Series will be like knowing that the two teams have not faced each other during the regular season.

The Texas Rangers are maybe playing the best baseball they have played all season. The starting pitchers have been wonderful, giving the team what they want. Cliff Lee their number one starter is currently 3-1 during the postseason. As of the first game, the Rangers hit the ball well, led by Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz, and were able to put together 6 runs a game during the playoffs. The team is collectively helping each other out to win ball games and are running off a natural high since they are the only team in team history to make it to the World Series.

The Giants are equally as good in some spots, like pitching. Their pitching staff is one of the best in the MLB and are hard to manufacture runs against, just ask the Phillies and the Rangers in Game two. Matt Cain was able to put up goose eggs through 7 and two  thirds of an inning, and he has now put together 21 scoreless innings this postseason. So far, the Giants pitching are able to keep the Rangers potent offense at bay. Even though the Giants are not known as a hitting team, they have been able to put up staggering numbers, surprising a lot of people.

Many feel this is going to be a great World Series to watch since both teams can pitch and hit, making it more exciting to watch. Sports fans are already picking the champs for the 2010 season and the people on Sports-Odds.com that the Texas Rangers are the clear winner of the best of 7 series. So far, the Giants are proving thousands wrong and if they can hold on to their 2-0 lead against the Rangers, they can easily pull away with this thing and become the next World Champions.
