As we begin the run to an NBA Championship expect big things coming out of the Orlando Magic this postseason despite the major power shifts in the Eastern Conference with teams such as the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks revamping their rosters in order to contend for an NBA Championship. One must not forget the Boston Celtics as they have three future hall of famers as well as the crushing thought of losing in the NBA Finals in a hard fought 7 game series. The Magic are the number 4 seed in the Eastern conference and have a 1-1 tie in the first round series against the Atlanta Hawks with many predicting a hard fought 7 game series.
Game 1 provided fans with a dominating performance from C Dwight Howard as he had a career high 46 points and a monster 19 rebounds and PG Jameer Nelson had 27 points along to add with that. However the rest of the team could only put up 20 points and the dominating defense that has always kept the Magic alive in games disappeared and the Magic fell to a team that had 6 players in double figures including all star Joe Johnson who put up 25 for the Hawks as they stole Game 1 103-93.
Game 2 was a bit different though Dwight Howard once again put up big numbers with 33 points and 19 rebounds. The ball was more evenly distributed throughout the team as 3 others were in double figures. The team also stepped up their defensive play holding the Hawks to 39% field goal shooting and 82 points. The Magic evened up the series at one a piece with the series shifting over to Atlanta tonight. Will the Magic keep their momentum and steal a game at Phillips Arena or will the Hawks prevail on their home floor? Game 3 begins at 8 tonight.
