Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks hope to have the same success against the Heat in the postseason as they have had in the regular season.

The New York Knicks have waited 19 years since the last time they won the Atlantic Conference. They are being led by star forward Carmelo Anthony, who seems to not be able to miss lately. One of their goals entering the season was to win 50 games, which they have achieved, and now they have achieved the goal of winning the Atlantic Conference.

Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant are battling for the NBA scoring title, and every game changes who is leading.  They are both trying to catch LeBron James in the MVP race. Anthony is averaging 28.6 points per game, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists a game. Tyson Chandler is the Knicks defensive presence, averaging 10.7 rebounds a game and 1.17 blocks a game. They have five players averaging double digits and seem to be able to score with the best of them. Knicks guard J.R. Smith has been shocking the NBA with some of his big games; he is the second leading scorer on the Knicks averaging 17.8 points a game.

This last couple of years have been very exciting for the Knicks fans after making big moves, trades, and most importantly to the fans winning. Senior Dylan Yasso said, “I think the Knicks can challenge the Heat in the East and I’m loving how dominant Carmelo seems to be.”  That is the main question for the Knicks: Can they beat the Heat? The Knicks are 3-1 this year against the Heat. They seem to be able to beat them, but can they beat them when it really matters?

The recent success of the Knicks has been due to Carmelo playing like he’s the best. If he continues to play like this, it will be fun to watch the Knicks throughout the postseason. Senior Doug Rovello said, “You heard it first from me: the New York Knicks will beat the Heat in the playoff series.”
