Arguably the strongest boxer in the middleweight division Gennady Golovkin, also known as triple G, is a menace in the ring and one to be feared. He has never lost a fight and according to him and his supporters he may not during his career. He is known for his incredible durability, aggressiveness, and his pure punching power, much like a Mike Tyson or George Foreman in a smaller body. Going into the biggest fight of his career against Saul Canelo Alverez, he was 36-0 and was favored on betting sites. Gennady was seen to be fighting just as he always does, but a shocking decision made by the judges put it into a draw across all scorecards. Never touching the canvas in his career must have made this a tough choice to make but the draw stood and a second fight between the fighting giants must be set in the near future.

To put this into perspective, here are some incredible facts of

Gennady:

-He began boxing aged 10 and as an amateur, he won world titles at junior and senior level and reached the middleweight final at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

-29 of Golovkin’s 32 pro victims fell early – including the last 19 – giving him the highest K.O percentage (90.63) of all present title holders, and the highest in the history of the 160 lb. division.

-His 14 fights for versions of the WBA title have lasted just 67 rounds combined, an average of less than 4.8 rounds a fight.

– In 350 amateur fights (just five losses) and 32 pro fights, he has never been dropped or stopped.

-After starring in Germany, Denmark, Panama, Kazakhstan and the Ukraine in his formative pro years, ‘Battleship Golovkin’ made his US debut in September 2012, stopping Grzegorz Proksa top Polish prospect in New York. He has but featured extensively on the HBO network ever since.
