It’s time to get rowdy! Today, we will be talking about what every football fan has been waiting for since February, and that is the NFL football season. The most wonderful time of the year. Buying expensive jerseys, playing fantasy football, and making fun of each other’s teams. Seriously, this gets millions of people’s attention every year. Might as well get your snacks and drinks now, as I recap some of the exciting moments and low blows from week 1 of this 2020 season.

This season started off this past Thursday with the Houston Texans vs. the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs picked up their first win with a final score of 34-20. Patrick Mahomes led the team with 211 passing yards and three touchdowns. He completed 24 of the 32 passes that were thrown. Moving on to this Sunday. Starting off at 1:00pm there were 10 games streaming. Cam Newton made his debut with the New England Patriots and defeated the Miami Dolphins with a final score of 21-11. Cam Newton had 155 passing yards and personally scored two of the three touchdowns. The Patriots defense also picked three interceptions thrown by the Dolphins quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The hype was everything when Tom Brady moved here to Tampa. At 43 years old, he is still making a name for himself. However, the first game for him was disappointing, to say the least. The Bucs took their first loss of the season to the New Orleans Saints with a final score of 34-23. Brady threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns but also had two interceptions, one of which was a pick 6. Drew Brees, however, wasn’t too rusty with 160 yards and two touchdowns.

Two games were played on Monday night. The Steelers pulled out a win against the Giants with a final score of 26-16. Ben Roethlisberger had an impressive game and threw 229 yards for 3 touchdowns.

Let’s talk about some of the standout players this week. What a game for Lamar Jackson, as he threw 275 yards for three touchdowns against the Cleveland Browns, completing 20 out of the 25 passes he threw. He is one player we should be watching out for this season. Clyde Edwards-Helaire had an impressive first game in his NFL career, rushing 138 yards for the Chiefs. What a comeback the Washington football team made; they were behind the Eagles 17-0, and then shined throughout the 3rd and 4th quarter, scoring 7 points in the 3rd quarter and 14 points in the 4th.

Overall, it wasn’t shabby for the first week of NFL football. There are still 15 games left in the season, so it can go in many directions. Let’s hope your team continues to shine or tries to get it together and improve their season.
