Kyle:

It was a crisp January morning, and the boys were back in a big way. Will and I made arrangements that fateful day with the intent of experiencing vegan transcendence. Different than anything either of us had tried in the past, veganism was, for the two of us, a source of intrigue rather than a destination for scorn. We both bubbled with anticipation as we drove to the local eatery known as Consciousness Blossom. What next occurred, I can honestly say, altered my very existence in the most permanent fashion.
The door swung open at 10:00, just as the establishment began serving customers. Will and I eagerly sat and observed the surroundings as we were practically exalted by the staff. We were the most passionate customers they had recently seen, which only increased their always-strong dedication to hospitable service. The restaurant sits in a secluded enclave on Tampa Road, in between Fantastic Sam’s and 7/11. The sunlight was darkened by the dreary clouds, yet the notes of peace and serenity were clearly dominant in the calm setting. Inside, Will noted the Sri Chimnoy quotes lining the wall. A Taoist philosopher speaking to the path, the way, Chimnoy focuses on the acceptance of the world and the release of petty human desires. The message really struck home, too. Will and I discussed politics and the college application process. Heated topics, sure, but in the throng of Consciousness Blossom’s aura of peace, the dialogue was the most constructive and uplifting I have ever experienced. The setting was a refuge from the rapacious nature of the surrounding world. A cocoon of sorts, and spirituality is the butterfly that emerges upon exiting.

 

Willl:

After having delightful conversation, we decided to venture into their menu. We gazed upon the plethora of various vegan dishes with the soothing background music of Sri Chimnoy playing the harp. The creative arrangement of vegan meals ranged from vegan johnny cakes to tofu steak. The one that caught my eye was the tofu scramble, a tofu-vegetable combination that simulated a fluffy omelette. I ordered it, followed by Kyle ordering the hummus roll up, a whole wheat wrap with lettuce and cucumbers. The simple presentation seemed underwhelming; however, the explosive taste filled our mouths and bellies with flavor and satisfaction. The food was filling and most importantly meat-free. It was impressive how they completely transformed the bland tofu into something so flavorful and savory. To top off the glorious food we had just consumed, we chose to create our own smoothie. Kyle wanted a strawberry and pineapple smoothie; however, the kind waitress suggested we get every fruit available for the best smoothie experience. We took the waitresses advice and ordered an everything smoothie that contained layers of different flavors. While we waited, we watched a video of Sri Chimnoy painting abstract figures, blooming with vibrant colors. This Chimnoy guy was clearly enlightened and had mastered every art form possible. The smoothie was presented in two separate glasses, a nice touch since we were splitting it. It may have been the soothing atmosphere, but the smoothie was the best drink that has ever touched my tongue. Like Chimnoy, it seemed that the smoothie had elevated to a new level of existence. The drink seemed to bring a relaxing warmth to both of us. Compared to Taco Bell, this establishment was a peaceful haven, welcoming newcomers to spread their magic serenity.
