With April beginning and May soon approaching, AP exams are on the rise. All exams are in May, with the exception of AP Research. There is just a little under a month to begin preparation for all of these exams. As seniors, this is really a push and a stretch for us.

A helpful tip for students taking AP exams is to start studying early, whether it is by yourself, in a study group/session, tutoring, or more. Studying early will put you ahead of the game. Another tip for before the exam is to get a lot of sleep; cramming before the exam with all-nighters just ends up hurting a student and pushing them to a point of exhaustion. One more helpful tip with studying is to create flashcards of some type to go through every night, just to help with repetition and memorization. This constant repetition will help implant this material in your brain. Another tip is to go into the exam confident and ready. Get up at a decent time, eat a good breakfast, and get to the exam with a little time to spare so you can get acquainted. Senior Emily Rollins followed all of these steps and said, “Making sure to follow all of these tips helped me remain ready and focused for my exams; these helped me get a 5 on AP World.”

Overall, preparing early for exams to get yourself comfortable will benefit you in the long run. This in turn can help one get a better score. More sleep and preparation can help a student achieve a higher score, rather than going in unprepared and managing only a 1 or 2 which is not passing. With the right preparation and strategies, you can obtain a 3, 4 or even a 5. This can also help a student be more confident and ready to tackle the exam. For many people who haven’t taken AP exams before, this could really help them prepare for the first time they take it.
